Toi Toi Pinot Noir Clutha Winemakers Selection 2018 (6 x 750mL) NZ

Toi Toi Pinot Noir Clutha Winemakers Selection 2018 (6 x 750mL) NZ

Lot No: 0060-2486251

Viticulture and Winemaking

The 2018 vintage will be remembered as one of the warmest on record, with continual hot days throughout February and March and rain coming just before and during harvest. A very unusual harvest, as the Clutha Pinot Noir is normally the last to be picked, this year, due to unseasonably warm conditions the fruit was the first of the vines. We picked the grapes when the flavours were at optimum, to ensure we preserved the fruit flavours in the wine. We used a select de-stemmer harvester to softly handle the fruit. Once pressed off skins, the juice was then fermented at low temperatures in stainless steel tanks with selected yeast strains to preserve the inherent delicate fruit flavours. Following fermentation, the wine was aged on light yeast lees to increase palate weight and complexity before it was bottled for enjoyment. (271267-4)

Chain of Ponds Morning Star Pinot Noir 2015 (6 x 750mL) SA

Chain of Ponds Morning Star Pinot Noir 2015 (6 x 750mL) SA

Lot No: 0016-2486251

In the Vineyard

Fruit for the 2015 Morning Star pinot is sourced from a single block from a single vineyard in the southern Adelaide Hills. Only the best barrels from the block are selected for the Morning Star. The blend is made from 100% MV6 clone from a VSP trellis in Kuitpo. In the Winery The fruit was harvested in the early morning and destemmed only,10% of handpicked whole bunches were added to the fermenter. It was cool soaked for 2 days prior to beginning fermentation. It was fermented with minimal cap management via plunging and air sparging in open fermenters with a burgundian isolate yeast to preserve the fresh primary fruit and aromas of pinot noir and help preserve the colour. The wine was pressed off skins after 8 days of fermentation, transferred into 40% new french and 60% 2 and 3 year old french oak. Malo-lactic fermentation was completed while in oak. Left on fine lees for 12 months, the wine was then barrel selected from each parcel and blended to create the final blend. (271799-1)

Vista Bodega Pinot Noir 2019 (12 x 750mL), Chile

Vista Bodega Pinot Noir 2019 (12 x 750mL), Chile

Lot No: 0011-2486256

Chile's unique geographical and climatic conditions offer it many advantages for wine production. The country is very long and thin - some 4500 km, yet it is only on average 150km wide, with the land sandwiched between the high, snow-capped Ands Mountain range and cold Pacific Ocean. The water temperature of Pacific is kept significantly colder by the Humbolt Current that flows up the Chilean coastline from Antarctica. The climate and soil conditions are almost perfect for grape growing;the influence and close proximity of cold air from the Andes and cool sea breezes cannot be overemphasised. Rainfall is restricted predominantly to the winter months, and snow-melt from the Andes provides unlimited pure water for the vineyard irrigation. These benign conditions and absence of phylloxera prevent many vine diseases.Because of the temperate climate and sharp day-night temperature variations, the ripening season may be several weeks longer than normal, allowing grapes to ripen more evenly and with greater fruit concentration and skin pigmentation - often resulting in higher level of antioxidants. Now Chile has become one of the world's prime resources of varietal wine. Giesen Pinot Noir 2018 (6 x 750mL) Marlborough. NZ

Winemaking

Hand and Selective Machine Harvest, cold soaked for 4-6 days. Wines were fermented using indigenous yeasts. Total skin time was 16-29 days. Aged for 10 months in French oak hogsheads. This wine didn’t receive fining and was filtered prior to bottling in late March.

Vintage Conditions

The 2013/14 growing season began with one of the hottest starts on record until the end of December, with rapid even growth, a good flowering and subsequent fruit set. Then through to the end of February was cooler than average with the vineyards achieving good berry development. March was warmer than the norm and we saw full development of flavour and concentration. Each parcel harvested in optimum conditions despite some pressure from late season rain.

St Hubert's 'The Stag' Vic Pinot Noir 2018 (6x 750mL).TAS.

Hubert de Castella's passion for the Yarra Valley saw him establish St Huberts in 1862.By the late 1800s it had grown to be the largest estate in the area. The wines enjoyed immediate and on-going success at wine shows both domestically and abroad. The onset of the Great Depression, the increasing popularity of fortified wine and the emerging profitability of dairy farming saw the vineyard revert to grazing in the 1920s. It wasn't until the 1960s that the Yarra Valley again rose to prominence as a wine region and St Huberts was once again one of the pioneers. After the success and cult following achieved by our St Huberts Stag Yarra Valley Pinot, we decided more people need to drink Pinot Noir, and we needed to venture out of the Yarra! 2017 was the first vintage of our Stag Victorian Pinot Noir. Fruit for the 2018 was harvested from selected sites, mainly around Yea, with some Mornington Peninsular and others in the mix. Picked early to maintain vibrant fruit, and treated respectfully to maintain freshness.Fresh, supple, savoury - Pinot for the masses – that sings like Pinot!
