De Bortoli Down the Lane Merlot Durif Shiraz 2017 (6 x 750mL) SEA

Season

- The King Valley experienced a mild growing season following timely spring rains. Near perfect growing conditions for full flavour development of the fruit. Grapes harvested late march. Whilst in the Riverina a wet winter and spring provided plenty of moisture for a good growing season. A dry and warm summer allowed for a slow ripening retaining lots of fruit and natural acidity. Winemaking - Each variety was harvested separately at a range of baume levels to provide both freshness and intensity of the varietal flavours. Portions of each variety were matured with French and American oak for the touch of vanilla sweetness.

Blending was once seen by some as the poorer by-product of winemaking, but is now used to create wines which are greater than the sum of all parts. It is always the first red I put together each year and often takes the longest time to craft.A blend of 3 varieties, we take the finest characteristics of each, to compose a medium bodied wine that is a mouth filling textural flavour bomb, that will accompany any food on any occasion.

A Red Moon occurs during a total lunar eclipse when the light filtering through the Earth’s atmosphere dapples the moon in red light. A penumbral lunar eclipse occurred on the 11th of February 2017 during harvest. Fruit from the Mangan Vineyard was hand harvested, fermented naturally and basket pressed to French oak.Cullen Wines have been very successful in meeting their aim of producing a wine which, while fruit driven, is of such high quality that it will develop for several years under good cellaring conditions. This wine was made from a carefully selected blend of Malbec, Petit Verdot and Merlot grown on the Mangan Vineyard, which has been shown to be ideally suited to nurturing these grape varieties.

Chateau Cantenac Brown 3er Grand Cru Margaux 1979 (1x 750ml),Bordeaux. cork

Lot No: 0014-2473900

hâteau Cantenac-Brown is a wine producer located in Margaux, on the left bank of the Gironde river in Bordeaux. It was established in the early 19th Century and was classified as a third growth in the 1855 Classification of the Medoc and Graves. Like most left-bank Bordeaux wines, Cantenac-Brown is dominated by Cabernet Sauvignon, with smaller amounts of Merlot and Cabernet Franc. The vineyard is planted on gravelly soils shot through with white stones, which help to reflect the sun's warmth onto the grapes, helping ripening. The grand vin comes from vines that are on average 35 years old, and yields are kept in check by the viticulture team. Every couple of months during the growing season, the grapes are checked bunch by bunch to ensure everything is progressing as it should. The grapes for the grand vin are hand-harvested and are vinified plot-by-plot in stainless steel vats. Malolactic fermentation takes place in barrels before the wine is aged in mostly new French oak for up to 15 months.Château Cantenac-Brown also make a second wine, Brio de Cantenac-Brown, from younger vines on the estate, and a dry white wine, Alto de Cantenac-Brown, which is made from a Sauvignon Blanc – Semillon blend. Marichal Reserve Collection Pinot Noir Tannat 2011 (6 x 750mL), Canelones

Grape Variety: 70% Pinot Noir and 30% TannatTasting Notes: This original red wine presents an attractive garnet red colour. The flavours are delicate with blackberries and plum jelly notes. Those elements are carried through to the creamy finish.Vineyard: Etchevarría - Canelones, Uruguay.Age of the Vineyard: Vines planted in 1999Time of Harvest: Early MarchAltitude: 30 metres above sea levelHarvest Method: Manually collected in 18 kg boxes.Winemaking: This blend is rather unusual. Winemakers believe this is due to the fact that there are very few producers, if any, who dare mix two varieties with so different styles. Pinot Noir is an icon of the delicacy of tannins due to its softness and complexity, while Tannat is associated with the roughness of tannins and being full in the mouth. Succeeding in making these two varieties agree in one wine is nothing but a challenge. The percentages on the different vintages they produced has always been over 70% Pinot Noir and under 30% Tannat. A higher percentage of Tannat would completely overshadow the Pinot Noir. The vinification of both varieties is done under the very same procedure as the pure Tannat and Pinot Noir: the correct ripeness point of the grape, careful selection of bunches, fermentation at controlled temperature, and a careful determination of maceration times. In addition to this, they specifically select the vintages and barrels that will better complement each other when blended, having a better result as a blend than the two separate wines. Winemakers: Juan Andrés & Alejandro MarichalAlcohol: 13.0% vol.Volume: 750 mlResidual sugars: 1.8 gr/litreStandard Drinks: 7.7Peak drinking: 2012-2015Best Served: 16°C - 18°CAgeing: 60% of the wine was aged during 9 months in second and third use American and French oak barrels, the rest without oak in order to keep expression of variety.
