Penfolds `St Henri` Shiraz 2003 (6 x 750mL), Multi-regional, SA.

The palate is seamless with St. Henri's trademark, glossy and silky mouthfeel. Wild raspberry and loganberry fruits align with 'finessed' tannins and a refreshing acidity to aid palate tightness, inducing a continuum through (not across) the mid-palate. 2003 is a solid St. Henri release and a great example of this wine in a challenging vintage – reaffirming its 50+ year-old credentials through thick and thin!

Wantirna Estate `Amelia` Cab Sav Merlot 2003 (6x 750ml), . Cork closure.

Lot No: 0075-2474945

A large proportion of the grapes for this wine come from the original 1963 plantings of cabernet sauvignon, merlot and cabernet franc vines. The remainder is from the more recently planted – 1989 – petit verdot. Whilst the proportions are different every year, depending on fruit set and cropping levels, roughly speaking the break down is about as follows: 65% cabernet sauvignon, 30% cabernet franc and merlot, and 5% petit verdot. The addition of the petit verdot grapes in the 1990s gave the wine an added backbone of tannin and natural acidity. With its long growing season, the petit verdot grapes are the last to be harvested, usually in mid April. The vines for the Amelia are all dry farmed – that is, there is no irrigation. The roots go deep into the clay soil, searching out any available moisture. This and the age of the vines is crucial to making the intense yet elegant wine. The wine is approachable young but will age for more than fifteen years. (263660-102)

Clonakilla Shiraz Viognier 2003 (2 x 750ml), Canberra District.5 Star Prov

Lot No: 0001-2474945

Provenance: ★ ★ ★ ★ ★

Tim Kirk is the ''rock star'' of Shiraz right now in Australia, and anytime you can get your hands on some back vintage Shiraz Viognier, you should not pass up the chance. Power and elegance rolled up into one fantastic package. While the 2003 has already seen some bottle age, the wine will comfortably sit idle for another half decade but will not disappoint the impatient in all of us. (262125-57)

Oliverhill `Jimmys Section` Shiraz 2003 (2x 1.5L), McLaren Vale. Cork.

Lot No: 0013-2474929

Oliverhill is a small boutique winery located in McLaren Vale South Australia (McLaren Vale has been referred to as the middle palate of Australian wine). Linda and Stuart Miller own this winery, which was founded in 1973, and is near the spectacular Onkaparinga Gorge National Park. They specialise in premium quality, limited production reds. Specifically, a single vineyard Shiraz, "Jimmy Section", coming from a small 5-acre plot planted 30 years ago; a Cabernet Sauvignon, grown on the lower section of the same vineyard along with some Durif; and a Grenache, sourced from the "Bradey Block" vineyard of old bush vines some 80 years old.
