Cheval des Andes 2015 (6 x 750mL), Mendoza, Argentina.

The year 2015 high temperatures recorded from winter to summer, which threatened over ripening, but the year was “saved by the rain” in February that brought good freshness and ideal ripeness. In general, 2015 is a very elegant, discrete and subtle year with a more distinct Bordeaux style than its predecessors. The harvest took 15 days: the last week of March for Malbec first week of April for the Cabernet Sauvignon. From a winemaking point of view, 2015 marks a change in the barrels used: the team significantly increased the proportion of 400 and 500 litres tonneaux in order to preserve more of the fruit’s crispness.

The Toro region's grape is the Tinta de Toro, a dark, tough-skinned variety from the Tempranillo family and one of the very few to resist the phylloxera blight that ravaged European vineyards in the late 19th century. Sometimes called "the blackest of black grapes", the Tinta de Toro is only found in this part of Spain. Its small berries are rich in tannin and, when picked at optimal ripeness, have exceptionally concentrated fruit flavours.

Wine Making

- The grapes were hand harvested, fermented then gently pressed in our traditional basket press before oak barrel maturation. Cellaring - This Pinot Noir is beautiful to enjoy right now, however, if given careful cellaring, it will continue to evolve over the next 2-3 years as it matures. Food Suggestion - This is a wine that is very enjoyable on its own, but it also makes a great accompaniment to lighter-style meat and fish dishes. (263587-1)

Wolf Blass `Blass` Shiraz 2016 (6 x 750mL), SA

Lot No: 0031-2474468

Vintage Conditions

- Winter rainfall was light yet consistent, leading in to a warm, dry spring, with good flowering and fruit set allowing for even berry development. Summer was relatively cool, with January rains providing vines with a much needed drink. Fine, mild conditions ensured long, cool ripening, resulting in fleshy, aromatic and fruit-filled wines. Maturation - 14% was matured with French oak to enhance structure and complexity, while maintaining fruit character and vibrancy. In his heyday, Wolfgang Blass was confident and charismatic – just like his wines. He pushed winemaking boundaries, revolutionising the way Australians enjoyed wine. Fifty years on the world has changed, but Wolf’s spirit hasn’t, continuing to motivate and encourage our next generation winemakers to uphold his legacy. Inspired by a new wave of unconventional winemaking, Blass by Wolf Blass was born. Hand-crafted wines in the spirit of contemporary style and experimentation. (261331-1)

Vintage Conditions

- Temperatures through spring, summer and into autumn were warmer thanaverage. These dry and warm conditions produced lighter weighted Shiraz crops with much smaller bunches and berries. These lighter crops were, however, concentrated and full of flavour. Winemaking/ Viticulture - Select parcels of Shiraz grapes are fermented with a small percentage ofViognier grapes, whilst some other parcels are fermented with Viognier juice, and the remainder is fermented on its own. Utilising these different fermentation options has enabled us to blend a soft and stylish wine showing subtle Viognier aromatics combined with the medium weight and finer tannin structure of Shiraz.Eden Valley has been home to Yalumba and its Shiraz since 1849. Taking the name from Yalumba’s oldest surviving centennial Shiraz vineyard, and grapes from a handful of our most loved vineyards, the Triangle Block pays testament to this history. There is great diversity across the Eden Valley; from vineyards that exhibit quite subtle fragrant aromatics and a much finer, more elegant palate to those that are more dense in style with darker brooding aromatics and palate richness. What links them all together is an underlying finesse andpurity, the hallmark of Eden Valley Shiraz. With a hint of Viognier, this wine embodies Eden Valley. (263487-1)

Inspired by the first visit of a reigning monarch to Australia in 1954, Mount Pleasant Philip Shiraz is the personification of a distinguished family history dating back more than 130 years. Made in an authentic Hunter Shiraz style, this complex wine is crafted from small parcels cultivated in Australia's most premium wine regions. It is medium bodied and generous with an attractive palate of fresh fruits and exhibiting the hallmarks of Hunter Valley regionality. (255626-2)
