Pinot Noir is hand-harvested from vines in Spy Valley's Marlborough vineyard, gently separated from the stems and fermented in small, traditional open-top vats. These vats are hand-plunged to extract colour and tannin, and after pressing the wine is aged in French oak barrels. This is a fruit-driven style of Pinot Noir with soft tannins and spicy oak.

Jones Road Pinot Noir 2015 (12 x 750mL), Mornington Peninsula, VIC.

This area of Pinot was selected for our premium label as it had provided outstanding flavours in the past. The vines were cane pruned and restricted to 20 buds. Trained to a VSP open canopy, to provide sunlight & air movement through the canopy. Minimal watering was used and bunch numbers restricted. The grapes were picked relatively early on 3rd March as soon as the berries developed the required flavour profile.

The 2015 Tasmanian wine vintage will be a much sought after one, based on high quality and not much of it! We are very proud of our 2015 vintage. The vineyard has produced clean fruit at low to moderate Baumewith high natural acidity, exhibiting excellent varietal characteristics. In the winery we de-stemmed and crushed the grapes before cold soaking for 3 days. Fermentation followed in open vats for 7 days before pressinginto French oak for maturation. After 14 months of maturation the wine was blended and bottled.

James Suckling Attractive nose, good complexity, red fruits like raspberries and cherries well accompanied by touches of spicy and floral tones. Well balanced acidity gives this wine juicy. Medium bodied, rounded and soft with a long and pleasant aftertaste. It is a wine to enjoy now but it will improve in the bottle. . Grape Variety: Pinot NoirVineyard: Low yield vines. Controlled deficit irrigation regime. Careful viticultural management searching for the proper ripeness of the tannins and avoiding green flavors. Low yields and good conditions during ripening gives a well structured wine with attractive varietal aromas, a fresh acidity.Time of harvest: Harvest was done in the first week of April.Ageing: 15% of the blend aged in used barrels during 4 months.Winemaking: Fermentation- 7 days cold maceration.
