La Francette Merlot NV (6 x 750mL) Vin de france

Lot No: 0030-2487182

La Francette Merlot NV

Merlot is a dark blue-coloured wine grape variety, that is used as both a blending grape and for varietal wines. The name Merlot is thought to be a diminutive of merle, the French name for the blackbird, probably a reference to the colour of the grape. Its softness and "fleshiness", combined with its earlier ripening, makes Merlot a popular grape for blending with the sterner, later-ripening Cabernet Sauvignon, which tends to be higher in tannin. Monarque Malbec AOC Cahors Tradition Rouge NV (6x 750mL), Cork

Lot No: 0046-2487182

Soil Type:

Schist and granite based soils with some limestoneGrape variety: MalbecRegion: CahorsClosure: CorkGastranomie: Goes well with beef, red pasta, Chicken lamb, Kangaroo a real match here and most game or just with a tee bone off the barbie.Ageing: Ready now but improves with age 3 - 4 yearsThis is a very good example of how producers nowadays are managing to reconcile real Cahors character when young.Colour is black as it should be, tinted purple but not opaque. Nose expressive with red and dark fruit, earthy minerals and leather touches. Palate is medium/full bodied with plenty of fruit, lively acidity with a leathery tang, more earthy minerals, tar hints, liquorice notes and strong saline backbone leading to an adequately long and firm finish with marked tannins. Nothing here for a Cahors lover not to like. (271438-13)
