Grape: 100% Montepulciano D’Abruzzo.

Origin of Grape: The grapes are cultivated in Fossacesia approximately 140 meters above sea level, where the changing temperature between night and day allows excellent aromatic ripening and also a perfect maturation in polyphenolic antioxidants thus maintaining a pleasant freshness and fragrance.

The grapes are cultivated on clayish, loam soil. They are grown in an espalier (Guyot) manner, with the planting density of 4000 plants per hectare.

The grapes are picked and selected by hand in late October and after the stripping of the vine comes the fermentation and alcoholic maceration process with the addition of yeast at a temperature of 26 ° C for 22-24 days with repeated pumping and delestage.

The red wine then undergoes malolactic fermentation with the addition of selected bacteria in large steel containers.

Finally the wine is aged in 4 year old French medium toasted wooden oak barrels of 15hl in size and left to mature for 6-8 months.


Winery Tasting Notes


This wine derives from 100% pure Montepulciano grapes, it is characterized by a mature style with a complex yet full rounded body. This red wine expresses perfectly the intensity of the historic and noble Abruzzo Montepulciano grape, with lush ripe fruit characteristics such as cherries, Marasca and dried prunes, accompanied by elegant notes of warm spices, tobacco and toasted almonds, all part of the ageing process given by the additional wooden barrel fermentation.

This red wine is very full-bodied on the palate with a soft, delicate tannin structure that gives length and longevity at the same time as being appealingly young and stylish.

Serving Suggestions

The full- bodied, richness of this red wine makes it an ideal accompaniment to appetizers of fresh cuts of cold meats such as cured hams and salami. First course dishes with a base of red meat sauces such as Ragu and then second courses of game meat, lamb dishes and various roasted meats. It also goes very well with second course grilled fish dishes as well as very mature cheese platters.
