Overview

1838 was the year Walter Thomson, with wife Jane, arrived in Australia and established a winemaking tradition. Faithful to his approach, our estate grown parcels are carefully tended by our vignerons to create wines of great intensity.

Set in the northern range of the cool and picturesque Clare Valley, the high altitude of provides finesse and delicate power to our mature vines.

Grown in our Clare Valley estate vineyards, and selected from our 11.1 hectares of Cabernet Sauvignon plantings, specifically from the Blights block near the Clare racecourse.

A consistent variety in the region for 2015 vintage, Cabernet Sauvignon is soft elegant style.

The richness of the fruit in its natural state is protected and nurtured through minimal intervention in the winery.

Careful use of French oak provides a support and complexity to fruit richness and regional expression.

Aroma

The dark inky colour introduces the concentrated blackcurrant fruits with savoury aromas of cedar and herbaceous notes.

Palate

Regional typicity is shown in this elegant Cabernet Sauvignon with an underlyingfragrant opulence of dark cassis. The palate is soft with velvety tannins.

Food Matching

The intensity of this wine calls for a little breathing in the glass or decanter before being savoured with chargrilled lamb, slow cooked meals or hard matured cheeses.
