Winery Tasting Notes

Intense herbal and floral elements reminiscent of wattle flowers dominate with nuances of perfumed blackcurrants. Multiple layers of blackcurrants have a slightly savoury intonation together with roasted ground eastern spices that elevate the wine beyond being merely a delicious fruit bomb to a grown up elegant McLaren Vale Shiraz.

Vineyard Notes:

This wine is a sub-regional blend of several McLaren Vale vineyards.

Production Notes:

It was fermented in traditional open fermenters with heading board systems and in static open fermenters using gentle cap management techniques. Oak maturation was 16 months in 25% new French and American hogsheads, the balance aged in 1 to 4 year old barrels.

Winery Profile

Brand Profile Image

Kangarilla Road winery is a partnership between Kevin and Helen O’Brien. While the wines show the generosity of the McLaren Vale region, they also have a unique Kangarilla Road style, the white wines fragrant and aromatic and the reds an elegant expression of their variety. The Kangarilla Road philosophy remains unchanged: “To produce wines that we enjoy drinking – wines that can be enjoyed with or without food and especially with friends.”
