Overview

Our Hunter Valley range is quintessentially Tyrrell’s and quintessentially Hunter. It showcases the key varieties of the region – Semillon, Chardonnay and Shiraz.

This range is made to the same high standards and style as our Winemaker’s Selection Vat 1, Vat 47 and Vat 9, in essence making our Hunter Valley range the ‘baby brothers’ of these three iconic wines.

Winery Tasting Notes

A classic medium-bodied Hunter style. Deceptively ‘rich’ with a savoury pepper and charcuterie flavour mixed in good proportions with ripe red and black berry fruits. Solid colour and intensity start the wine off in the right direction, while the palate shows up-front fruit sweetness with our hallmark savoury crunchy tannins and fresh

moreish finish. Vintage conditions resulted in a combination of really ripe fruit flavours balanced by the leaner savoury ones, making this wine not only very drinkable but also adding some intrigue.

Brand Profile Image

English immigrant Edward Tyrrell established Tyrrell's Wines in 1858 in the lee of the Hunter Valley's Brokenback Range, New South Wales. This land has become recognised as home to some of the Hunter Valley regions finest vineyards, and the basis for development of one of Australia's most successful privately owned wine companies.

Today, Tyrrell's are a truly national wine company, premium vineyards extend from their legendary home in the Hunter Valley to other distinguished grape growing regions of Australia including McLaren Vale in South Australia and Heathcote in Victoria.

Fourth generation family member and Managing Director, Bruce Tyrrell heads this winemaking company that boasts well established, popular and highly recognisable wine brands that are exported to over 30 countries worldwide. His children, the fifth generation of the Tyrrell family, are involved in the family business, illustrating that this iconic Hunter Valley winery will continue to be Australian owned well into the future.

Tyrrell's Wines was awarded Winery Of The Year by James Halliday, Australian Wine Companion Edition 2010.
