Overview

The vines in the HVD vineyard were planted in 1908 and form the 'Sign Post Block. The wine is floral fruit in youth, which moves towards biscuity characters with age. The palate is generally softer bodied with smoother acids than the Vat 1 and Belford Semillons.

Expert Reviews

WINEWISE 4.5 stars out of 5 - In between the Stevens and the Belford. It's a restrained, lemony semillon with a good middle palate and a racy finish.

WINE FRONT 95+ points - Fresh squeeze lime, vanilla, approachable, zesty but round - the volume of fruit is most excellent - almost flamboyant for such a young wine. Flinty and tight to close. Not an ounce of flab here though, make no mistake. Ripping length. I predict an amazing future for this wine: a toast and lime spectacular to come.

JAMESSUCKLING.COM 96 Points - I love the pear, sliced apple and mineral aromas here. Full body, tangy fruit and a tight finish. Focused and balanced. A real beauty. Drink now or hold. Screwcap.

Winery Tasting Notes

A very fine semillon vintage in the Hunter Valley. This wine is classic HVD Semillon showing lifted floral aromatics and tightly structured palate with considerable length of fruit and a great balance with it’s clean, soft acid structure
