Season - A cool spring with plenty of rain followed by a mild summer made for a late start to vintage under sunny skies and cool nights. These conditions made for full flavour ripeness with great natural acidity.
Winemaking - The Shiraz was harvested mid April whilst the Tempranillo fruit was picked earlier in March when each variety had reached maturity and were full of flavour. They were then fermented separately on skins for 7-10 days to allow the full extraction of flavour, colour and tannin.
Unexpectedly rich and layered, with mouthfilling red and blue fruits suspended in a fine network of ripe, rounded tannins Frustrating not knowing its price.
Rating Rating: 93/100 James Halliday Wine Companion 2019 August 2018
Flavours that work wonderfully well together, the spices and red fruit from the Shiraz and the savoury notes from the Tempranillo. As a nod to the Spanish hertiage of the Tempranillo, enjoy with a paella or tapas.
Cellaring Enjoy now or cellar for next 2-3 years.

De Bortoli Wines is a third generation family wine company established by Vittorio and Giuseppina De Bortoli in 1928. The couple emigrated to Australia from Northern Italy, from mountain villages at the foothills of the Italian Alps, near the historic town of Asolo.
Their son, the energetic and dynamic Deen De Bortoli, (b 1936 – d 2003) expanded and consolidated the business created by his parents. Deen's children established De Bortoli's reputation for premium wine including icon dessert wine Noble One and the Yarra Valley wines.
Italian family values passed down from Vittorio remain core values, there is a culture of hard work, generosity of spirit and of sharing good food, good wine and good times with family and friends.
