The fruit was sourced from coastal vineyards near Two People’s Bay, 15 kms east of Albany, this region proving to be particularly suitable for Sauvignon Blanc and Semillon. We fermented in four different varietal parcels, three being in 100% French oak and the final portion kept in stainless steel. This allowed a freshness to be retained from the unoaked parcel, while barrel fermentation provided textural weight and complexity to the palate. The finished wine was allowed 6 months in barrel prior to a final blending to create this distinct style.

Winery Tasting Notes

Bright with a very light straw colour.

Gorgeous aromas of exotic tropical fruits ie; lychees, guava and papaya with a herbaceous freshness.

A delicious wine with loads of zesty tropical fruit flavours and a tangy acidity. It has good palate weight and texture from its time on its yeast lees and, with its ‘zingy’ freshness, this ensures it’s good as an aperitif as well as being suitable to serve with many foods.

Our ‘Two Peeps’ is extremely delicious right now!

Winery Profile

Brand Profile Image

Located in the Great Southern region of Western Australia, West Cape Howe is the most southerly point, rising some 250 metres above the Southern Ocean. It is thought that the first explorers to this coastline were Dutch seafarers in 1627 aboard their 'Fluyt' class vessel "Gulden Zeepaard" (Golden Seahorse).

The winery is named after this magnificent landmark to pay respect not only to the natural beauty of the region, but also in recognition of the extreme influence of the Southern Ocean on the area's viticulture. The rugged coastline is home to some stunning white beaches, sheltered coves and great rock climbing sites.

West Cape Howe Wines is owned by a partnership including Gavin Berry (until 2004, senior winemaker at Plantaganet), and viticulturist, Rob Quenby. It was founded in 1997 and soon became one of the fastest growing wine brands in Western Australia, now producing around 60,000 cases annually. Over time, it has acquired some of the oldest vineyard resources in the state, giving it unrivalled access to the best and most consistent quality fruit that the cool Great Southern wine region has to offer.

West Cape Howe's driving philosophy is to make delicious wines of harmony, balance, structure and flavour - wines that people love to drink.
