Winery Tasting Notes

Along with a light straw hue, this wine has a creamy and consistent mousse. Attractive notes of rich honey, cashew nuts, lime and red apple. On the

palate, a medium body wine with citrus and apple pie characters. The wine displays a beautiful structure based on fresh natural acid and balanced fruit

Medals & Trophies

James Halliday: 94 Points. A 56/37/7% blend of chardonnay, pinot noir and pinot meunier from '06, '07 and '08, all from the Pipers River area. Pale pink-bronze, it is a super-elegant style, beautifully balanced and with a very long palate. It is the Dom Perignon style compared to Krug/Bollinger style of Arras.

Huon Hook: 90 Points. Bright, medium to full yellow colour. Honeyed mellow-aged bouquet with some straw and silage character typical of Tasmanian chardonnay. There's a hint of greenness in the fruit. The flavour is full and smooth, round and clean, with some obvious sweetness on entry, then a cleaner finish which is reasonably dry and carries a notable acid tang. The acidity is quite shrill and would be too much without that fairly generous dosage. A very good wine, in the final analysis.

Winery Profile

Brand Profile Image

Clover Hill was established in 1986 as a dedicated sparkling wine estate. The Clover Hill vineyard, located in the Pipers River region of north east Tasmania, has ideal climatic conditions and terroir to create Australia’s finest sparkling wine.

Planted solely to traditional sparkling wine varieties, Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier, considerable variation in the vineyard’s aspect and soil profile adds further complexity to the fruit sourced. Slow ripening conditions enable the grapes to develop a full flavour spectrum, resulting in a sparkling wine of richness, concentration and superb structure.
