Winery Tasting Notes

Colour - Light straw yellow with the slightest hint of a green hue.

Bouquet - This reserve Riesling is refined, poised and balanced. It has a focused fleshy citrus line, intricately underlaid with fresh talc and subtle blossom.

Palate - Finger limes, apple blossom, lifted minerals and bath salts seductively lure you into this pristine Riesling. Careful, it’s a captivating one!

General - It has power and energy, it is meticulous and it is elegant. The wine is delicate but has a length and complexity that continues for some time. This Superstition Reserve Riesling is a serious drop that’s made with weight and layering. It will cellar for years (if you can wait that long!) 100% free run juice, hand-picked grapes from old vines. No added acid or finings. Gently pressed and fermented slowly in controlled conditions to maintain the fruit purity, enabled us to make a truly exceptional expression of Clare Valley Riesling from this very special site.

Serve With - The balance, weight and complexity of this wine lends itself to be versatile with any food or just luxurious on its own. My personal favourite for this seductive beauty is smoked salmon and caviar salad. This wine can be cellared for 10-15 years.

Winery Profile

Brand Profile Image

Claymore Wines, situated in the beautiful Clare Valley in South Australia, began in 1997 with small volumes of Grenache and Riesling, and has now grown to almost 15,000 cases per year across a highly awarded range of wines.

We draw fruit from our five premium estate owned vineyards at Penwortham (the backbone of our red wine production) and Watervale (home to our Joshua Tree vineyard). These sites have been specifically chosen for their suitability for our staple varieties – Shiraz, Riesling, Grenache and Cabernet Sauvignon.

Our labelling is inspired by some of the great music of modern time - from rock, punk and folk. Our wines are about bringing together great passions to create the ultimate experience. We pride ourselves on meticulous winemaking using only the best fruit, but when it comes to enjoying a glass we don't take ourselves too seriously! So turn up the volume on a soundtrack of your choice, crack a bottle with friends, and relax.
