Overview

Harvested fully ripe, individual varietal parcels were processed separately, crushed to a combination of open and closed fermenters, with regular pump-overs and plunging during fermentation. Pressed to stainless steel tanks where the wine underwent its secondary malolactic fermentation then rolled down to a mixture of barrique, hogshead and large format French oak. Blending was completed on the bench, working with individual components to create the final blend. Bottled in July 2015.

Winery Tasting Notes

Aroma/Palate

Totally opaque black dark red colour with a deep dark red black tinged hue. Aromas of ripe blackcurrant, liquorice and dark cherries are overlaid with tobacco followed by spicy cedar end notes. Medium to full bodied with a juicy mouthfeel the palate is generously flavoured with blackcurrants and ripe dark cherries alongside some cedary tobacco like characters and spice. Dryish finish with solidly constructed but fine grained tannins. Long aftertaste of ripe blackcurrants, cedary tobacco characters, a touch of earth and spice.

Director of Winemaking, acclaimed vigneron Larry Cherubino, achieves this via a myriad of vineyards across the length and breadth of Australia's wine regions. His winemaking team is lead from the Oatley's winery at Mudgee, with further on-location experts and facilities in Margaret River, McLaren Vale and Yarra Valley.

Vineyards are tended as organically as possible and wines are made with minimal intervention, reflecting a dedication to sustainable grape growing and wine production practices.
