Ashbrook Sauvignon Blanc 2018 (12 x 750mL), Margaret River, WA.

A delicious wine to drink with or without food. The nose is loaded with tropical and passion fruits, which follow through onto the palate. Delicious fruit sweetness balanced by focused acidity and freshness makes this a very moreish wine. The grapes for this unwooded style are picked slightly riper than most in order to eliminate green characters and maximize the flavours of the tropical fruit spectrum and to give the wine greater palate weight and length.

Ashbrook Shiraz 2016 (12 x 750mL), Margaret River, WA.

With almost ideal weather conditions for whites exceptional fruit has been produced showing intense varietal flavours that are typical Margaret River. Aromatic varieties were outstanding with fresh citrus, lemon blossom and stone fruit on the nose and palate balanced off by crisp acidity. The temperature cooled off toward the end of February providing ideal weather conditions for the red varietals to fully ripen their flavour profiles and tannins. Once again there was a huge amount of Marri blossom leading into vintage therefore Silvereye bird damage was minimal. Flavour intensity was further benefited by the fact that cropping levels were reduced by around 30% across the region due to storms in early spring.

Hay Shed Hill Cabernet Merlot 2017 (6 x 750mL), Margaret River, WA.

VINTAGE: What a long, and strange vintage 2017 was. Every vintage is different; lessons learned from the previous year don’t always help the following year.2017 vintage started late, two to three weeks later than the preceding couple of years. The reason for this was the mild, cool spring weather experienced all across the southern part of the state. During the middle and latter part of March the South-West region including Margaret River experienced a very unusual amount of rain and very cool weather, ripening over this period was very slow. The first suggestions of worry started to appear in growers eyes. Of recent history Margaret River has experienced very dry conditions in March and early April with the season breaking mid to late April, not a problem with all the grapes picked. But this year the concern was that if the season broke in mid April all the red grapes would be still on the vine. However anyone that lived though the late April and early May in the South-West of Western Australia will testify that never had we had a better, warmer early autumn. It was simply perfect; cool crisp mornings and evenings but beautiful warm and sunny days; not too hot, textbook conditions for great ripening especially for the red varietiesThe Hay Shed Hill Vineyard Series showcase the character of the fruit grown on this classic vineyard site with distinctive and expressive wines. Old Vines Modern Wines. The Hay Shed Hill Cabernet Merlot highlights the strength of Margaret River in producing medium-bodied, flavoursome and elegant Cabernet blends. Ripe berry fruits and textural tannins showcase this classic wine style.

Voyager Estate Chenin Blanc 2016 (6 x 750mL) Margaret River, WA

Voyager Estate Chenin Blanc 2016 (6 x 750mL) Margaret River, WA

Lot No: 0032-2477461

Vintage

The vines enjoyed a near perfect growing season, with warm, dry spring weather and relatively light wind conditions prevailing along the Margaret River coast. The summer conditions were nice and warm without excessive heat, until a curveball arrived during 18 to 20 of January with a rare weather event for this time of the year occurring. This resulted in 80mm of rain falling over the region, which was a timely watering from Mother Nature for the reds - but not so timely for the whites which were only a couple of weeks from harvest. This was followed by some cooler conditions in late January and early February, this combination of events had the effect of delaying the white grape harvest with our first pick of Chardonnay on the February 8, which was one week later than the past few years. Harvest of the whites progressed slowly with the team picking small parcels of fruit each day, with Chardonnay being harvested during mid February to early March followed by Semillon, Sauvignon Blanc and Chenin Blanc during the late February to mid-March period. The 2016 vintage was a very strong year overall for the whites which all displayed bright, intense varietal fruit flavours with excellent natural acidity. Vineyard The fruit for our Chenin Blanc is sourced from three Estate vineyard blocks. Voyager Estate has some of the oldest Chenin Blanc vines in Margaret River with one of our blocks being a part of the original 1978 plantings. The vineyard soils are typically gravelly loams with a stony clay subsoil with excellent drainage and good moisture holding capacity, producing vines with exceptional balance. All the vines are carefully hand-pruned, shoot thinned and are cultivated to a target yield of ten tonnes per hectare. (264940-1)

Voyager Estate Girt by Sea Cabernet Merlot 2013 (6 x 750mL) Margaret River

Lot No: 0029-2477403

Vintage

Following the driest July ever recorded in the South West, early spring conditions saw excellent budbreak and steady vine growth, as frequent rainfall events ensured good soil moisture prior to flowering. Late November brought thunderstorms and extreme winds to the region which resulted in reduced yields across most varieties - particularly Sauvignon Blanc and Cabernet Sauvignon which were reduced by around 30%. The summer was very warm and dry with some bursts of heat during late December which advanced the development of the fruit. With warm and dry conditions continuing into February, many blocks reached optimal flavour at the same time, resulting in a very compressed harvest period for the whites. Our first harvest of Chardonnay was on the 6th of February which is nearly 10 days earlier than our long term average. Our Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot fruit was harvested during late March and early April which is quite typical for these varieties. All of the fruit was harvested in pristine condition with great vibrancy and excellent flavour profiles ensuring 2013 will produce another excellent crop of wines. Vineyard Voyager Estate Girt by Sea is produced primarily from Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot grapes sourced from our North Block and Weightmans vineyards. The gentle rolling gravelly hills provide the perfect soils for growing vines with excellent natural balance and moderate yields. All of our vineyards are managed following a sustainable and natural approach to viticulture, with a focus on building a healthy and resilient vineyard through the use of natural products and the encouragement of bio diversity. There is also a component of Wilyabrup Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot utilised in this blend from two premium selected vineyards. The Estate vineyards are planted to four different clones of Cabernet Sauvignon which contribute slightly different fruit profiles to the final wine. The vines are all meticulously trained to a vertical shoot positioned canopy and are hand pruned, shoot thinned and green thinned prior to harvest. (264940-3)

The vines are all planted on gravelly loam soils with different aspects and microclimates offering slightly different flavour profiles. The Sauvignon Blanc vineyards are planted mainly to Clone 1, which is perfect for this style of wine, offering crunchy lifted tropical fruit aromas and flavours. The Semillon contributes strong citrus elements, and provides palate weight and structure to the wine. The core Semillon component is sourced from our North Block 10 vineyard which was planted in 1995. This vineyard consistently produces outstanding fruit with great flavour intensity. All the vines are hand-pruned, shoot-thinned and yields are regulated to a target of ten tonnes per hectare, which ensures consistency from season to season. (264940-2)

Pitchfork `Pink` Rosé 2018 (6 x 750mL), Margaret River, WA.

With minimal skin contact the wine exhibits a light bright appearance with colour in the salmon pink spectrum. Fermentation to almost dry has produced a clean and refreshingly lively palate. There is just the hint of savoury texture indicating its origins of quality red grapes. The 2018 Pitchfork Pink is a great example of modern Australian rose, light years away from the dark ruby red, sweet and heavy examples of the past.
