Penfolds `St Henri` Shiraz 1998 (2 x 750mL), SA.

Lot No: 0013-2473649

Langton’s Classified: ExcellentTop Vintage

The Penfolds St. Henri style is a dramatic contrast to Penfolds Grange. St. Henri is pure, unadorned Shiraz, virtually alone among high-quality Australian reds in that it has never relied on new oak. It was created in the mid-1950s (first commercial vintage 1957) and has gained a new lease on life in the 1990s as its quality and distinctive style became better understood. (263660-89)

Penfolds `Bin 28 Kalimna` Shiraz 1996 (2 x 750mL) SA.

Lot No: 0017-2473649

The Kalimna vineyard is one of the finest in Australia and today produces much of the base wine for Grange. Some of the vines here are as old as one hundred years and these low yielding plants produce intensely flavoured fruit that was the inspiration of Bin 28. (261639-23)

Penfolds `Bin 95` Grange 1993 (1 x 750mL), SA.

Lot No: 0007-2473649

Grange is the benchmark by which all other reds in this country, and, increasingly, overseas, are often measured. The reasons for this are many yet straightforward. Concentration of flavour, complexity and longevity - Grange blossoms with 15 to 20 years of bottle age, when most other reds have past their best, and better vintages can live and continue developing for decades longer. Penfolds `Bin 28 Kalimna` Shiraz 2002 (3 x 750mL), SA.

Lot No: 0018-2473649

Penfolds Bin 28 is a showcase for warm-climate Australian Shiraz - ripe, robust and generously flavoured. First made in 1962, Bin 28 is named after the famous Barossa Valley Kalimna vineyard purchased by Penfolds in 1945 and from which the wine was originally sourced. Today, Bin 28 is a multi-region, multi-vineyard blend, with the Barossa Valley always well represented, providing 45% of the fruit for this vintage. (263660-69)

Penfolds `Bin 407` Cabernet Sauvignon 1998 (4x 750ml), . Cork closure.

Lot No: 0009-2473649

The availability of increased volumes of high-quality Cabernet Sauvignon fruit gave Penfolds the opportunity to develop a wine inspired by Bin 707, but at a more affordable price. Launched in 1993 with the 1990 vintage, Bin 407 is true to Penfolds’ multi-region, multi-vineyard blending policy. It is textbook Cabernet Sauvignon, showing strong varietal character and medium weight with ripe fruit at centre stage. French and American oak, usually one in four barrels new, is there in support. Penfolds `RWT` Shiraz 2004 (3x 750ml), . Cork closure.

Lot No: 0012-2473649

Penfold's alternative expression of Shiraz, regionally appellated and matured in French Oak.The development of Penfolds Red Winemaking Trial (RWT) reflects extraordinary progress in viticulture and winemaking. The two disciplines are increasingly intertwined, as growers and winemakers work together in search of optimum balance, ripeness and flavour.RWT draws fruit from 20 to 100 year-old vineyards arcing across the west and north-west of the Barossa Valley, mostly independently grown. The best vineyards produce fruit of voluptuous intensity, ripe tannins, and juicy flavours. The RWT Shiraz has a very seductive style with a plum/blueberry fruit profile and fine ripe tannins underpinned by savoury French oak.Since its first vintage in 1997, collectors have recognised the sheer class of RWT. Already the wine has a strong secondary market following, illustrating its collectability and cellaring potential. (263660-85)

Penfolds `RWT` Shiraz 2001 (1 x 750mL) Barossa Valley, SA.

Lot No: 0011-2473649

Penfolds RWT Shiraz presents an admirable alternative to the multi-regional sourcing and American oak maturation that are hallmarks of Grange, expressing instead, single-region Barossa Valley Shiraz matured in French oak barriques. The initials RWT stand for 'Red Winemaking Trial', the name given to the project internally when developmental work began in 1995. (263660-113)

Penfolds `Magill Estate` Shiraz 1998 (2 x 750mL), Adelaide, SA.

Lot No: 0010-2473649

Uncharacteristic cool weather and spring rains retarded vine development. This was exacerbated by high temperatures in January followed by rains in February and early March. The season finished warm and dry, however, enabling a trouble-free final ripening, with 1999 fruit showing excellent varietal character and a highly approachablenature. (263660-61)
