The Tablas Creek Vineyard Côtes de Tablas is a blend of four estate-grown Rhône varietals: Grenache, Syrah, Counoise and Mourvedre. Like most wines of the Southern Rhône, it is a blend of varietals, featuring the fruit and spice of Grenache balanced by the spice and mineral of Syrah, the appealing briary wildness of Counoise and the structure of Mourvèdre.

Tablas Creek is a pioneer of California's Rhone movement. Founded in 1989, it is the culmination of a friendship between two of the international wine community;s leading families dating back to 1967: the Perrin family of Château de Beaucastel and the Haas family of Vineyard Brands.

After a 4 year search, the perners chose Paso Robles, California, for its many similarities tot he southern Rhone, and began the lengthy process of importing vine cuttings, building a grapevine nursery and creating an estate vineyard from scratch.

Winery Tasting Notes

The 2013 Côtes de Tablas shows an explosive minty noseof blueberry, licorice, black plum and pepper. There'spowerful fruit on the front palate, then firming up with great tannins on the back. There's a luxurious texture, with nice granular tannins and a minty garrigue cooling and lingering on the finish. Drink for the next decade or more.
