Allegrini Campo dei Lecci Toscana 2014 (6 x 750mL), Italy

Grape varieties: 90% Sangiovese, 5% Merlot, 5% Canaiolo

Another vintage to remember, defined by many as one of the earliest on record in Bolgheri. After a rather mild

winter, albeit with heavy rainfall, the spring months enjoyed regular rainfall that fostered the uniform development of the buds, which had already appeared in early March. The summer season was dry and airy

with some refreshing rain in early September that enabled the grapes to ripen in perfect health. During the

pre-harvest period, broad variations in day-night temperatures encouraged phenolic and aromatic ripening whilst maintaining elevated acidity. Vintage 2016 promises intriguing wines with marked varietal personality, good structure and great ageing potential.

Winery Tasting Notes

Intense ruby red in colour, Bolgarello is a good expression of the Bolgheri area terroir, which combines freshness, due to the proximity of the sea and a good structure, that comes from the area’s typically long and

warm summers. It has a fresh bouquet of red berries. It’s fruity and spicy with hint of herbs. It’s a wine with a

well-crafted structure; the palate features a nice fruitiness with herby and spicy undertones and soft tannins.

Food pairings

Pairs with simple Mediterranean cuisine, above all pasta, but also white and red roast meats, and the traditional warm bruschetta, drizzled with extra virgin olive oil. An ideal pairing with cold cuts and mediummatured

cheese, including Pecorino Toscano. Serve at 14-16°C (57-61°F) and open shortly before consumption.
