Hay Valley Tempranillo 2017(12 x 750mL) Great Southern, WA

The Hay Valley is just west of Mt Barker in the heart of the Great Southern wine growing district of Western Australia. From post war farming and apple growing, the region is now a well-established area for viticulture with the first vines planted here in the late 1960’s. With its mature vineyards, moderate yields and Mediterranean climate, many grape varieties do well, producing crisp dry whites with vibrant, fresh fruit flavours and well balanced reds with great colour, flavour and structure.

Winery Tasting Notes

Colour - Lovely dark plummy/crimsony red with purple hues.

Aroma - Has good depth of dark plum fruit aromas, dusty fruit characters and some savoury smokiness.

Palate - A delicious, medium bodied dry red with the classic Tempranillo characters of savoury fruit flavours together with its drying tannins. It has complex, ‘dusty’ fruit characters with the chalky tannins contributing to its good length of flavour. Great drinking now with a well flavoured meal.
