Russell Road Shiraz 2017 (12 x 750ml) Great Southern, WA

Vintage - An excellent season as we had a mild winter, then good rainfall in spring so the vineyard had good soil moisture and good canopies heading into the ripening period.

Warm days and coolish overnight temperatures across the regions allowed the fruit to develop to full ripeness and therefore optimal flavour before harvesting in early April.

Established in 2004, the Russell Road Vineyard is located in the Western Australian premium grape-growing region of Frankland River. The continental climate of the region influenced by cold nights and warm days creates ideal conditions for growing quality wine grapes.

Winery Tasting Notes

Colour - Dark plummy red with good depth of colour.

Aroma - Beautifully perfumed with a good intensity of spicy plum fruit aromas, complexed with hints of sweet rhubarb and light peppery, smoky characters.

Palate - Medium bodied with gentle, sweet cherry and spicy plum fruit flavours together with some dusty, more savoury characters. These flavours are balanced by the slightly chalky, lightly drying tannins. An easy drinking dry red that is approachable now and would be a good match with many foods.
