Tahbilk Cabernet Sauvignon 1998 (6 x 750mL), VIC.

If Tahbilk is one of Victoria`s best kept secrets, its Cabernet might well be another. Coonawarra and Margaret River hog the limelight, but mature Victorian Cabernets often have as much depth and complexity, and their comparitively lighter palate weights and lower alcohol levels can often make them easier to drink.

Winery Tasting Notes

Tahbilk lies in the Nagambie Lakes Region of Central Victoria, some 100kms north of Melbourne, Australia. Established in 1860, this Estate was purchased by the Purbrick family in 1925, classified by the National Trust in 1960 and is Victoria's oldest family owned winery and vineyard.

This wine has been made using traditional Tahbilk techniques and consists of 90% Cabernet Sauvignon and 10% Cabernet Franc. it was fermented un open oak vats before maturation in French oak for 18 months prior to bottling.

Brick red in colour, the nose and palate exhibit an intricate mixture of tobacco and spice with under-lying mint and anise fruit characters whilst the finish is long and flavoursome, balanced with fine grape tannins and fresh acidity.
