Expert Reviews

Sourced from the Barossa Valley, McLaren Vale, Padthaway and Langhorne Creek; matured for 12 months in used American hogsheads handed down from prior duties with Grange, Bin 389 and so forth. Healthy and deep colour, it has a rich bouquet with licorice, spice, dark chocolate and blackberry all in unison. Good stuff indeed, with the savoury/inky/graphite impact of the very long, balanced medium to fullbodied palate. This could well evolve into one of the great Bin 28s.

Winery Tasting Notes

COLOUR

Deep dense red.

NOSE

Classic, dark. A black aromatic theme – graphite, flint, char, black jelly bean. A sensitive yet apparent veil of oak – ever so shy, compliant. Scents from the baker – Christmas pudding, replete with brandy and Cointreau-soaked currants; And from the chef – roasted meats, jus, pan-scrapings.

PALATE

Full and expansive. An immersion of flavour saturation and a textural continuum across the palate.

Mouth-coating sweet tannins and balanced acidity…never confronted by any threat of new oak.

Black olive and chocolate notes resonate with an abundance of fruits – plum, prune, blackberries, wild blueberries, Persistent length and flavour, finishing firm and assertive.
