Winery Tasting Notes

Colour - In the glass this wine is bright and enticing with a medium to deep cherry red appearance and dark burgundy hues reflecting this wine’s maturity.

Aroma - The bouquet is intense, complex and powerful. It opens with lifted floral scents of rose petal and violets then builds with earthy spices and cedar wood to dark plums, cherries and blackberry.

Palate - The palate is ripe and round with red cherries, toffee apple and dark plums. The earthy rustic charm of old bush vine Grenache dominates the flavour while premium Willunga Shiraz adds a chocolate richness and ripe Mataro gives a spicy lift. On the mid palate it reveals anise, violets and earthy herbs ahead of a warm, dry finish. Cedary oak is obvious but well integrated with fruit, acid and tannins. There is a noticeable alcohol lift that enhances the smooth richness on the back palate

Food Matching - This is a distinguished wine, ideal with the rustic country dishes of Spain, Provence and Italy. It’s full bodied and flavoursome with enough spice that it can handle Asian and Indian cuisine, try it with your favourite curry dish.

Cellaring Potential - This wine has had three and a half years cellar maturation before bottling and a further six months in bottle before release. It is now ready to be enjoyed and it will continue to drink well until 2025.
