Winery Tasting Notes

Colour - The appearance has a vibrant mahogany red colour and the high alcohol produces long legs coating the sides of the glass.

Aroma - The bouquet is intense, full of dark berries, brandy soaked raisins and subtle old oak barrels. It’s harmoniously integrated with hints of chocolate, earthy spices and fine licorice.

Palate - On the palate this wine is a journey. It opens with fresh ripe berries and follows up with spices and herbs through to a gourmet deli with smoked meats, savoury olive tapenades and freshly roasted coffee. It’s a complex array of sensations and flavours with generous mouth-feel and a long, smooth finish.

Food Matching - This wine belies its initial appearance, its warm and friendly with a big robust heart and powerful structure. It makes a great match to slow roasted lamb and savoury beef casseroles, without dominating the flavour. It has finesse and balance which brings out the best across a range of cuisine styles.

Cellaring Potential - This wine has had careful cellaring for 30 months before bottling. It’s ready for drinking now and over the next 5 years.
