Winery Tasting Notes

Colour

Rich ruby red with subtle auburn hues.

Aroma

The bouquet is intense and powerful with rich earthy herbs, dark berry fruit and smoky ground coffee. It has obvious fresh oak with an herbaceous background of violets and truffle.

Palate

The palate is uncompromising with big berry fruit and tannin. Dark cherries and plums come to the fore, followed by layers of complex herbs, mushrooms and forest floor. The back palate is smooth and velvety with a lingering aftertaste of black forest gateaux.

Food Matching

Enjoy with a rare rib eye steak, continental smoked sausage or mushroom risotto. It’s rich and powerful with a solid tannin background that can support strongly flavoured gravy or sauces.

Cellaring Potential

Cool climate Pinot Noir has a reputation for graceful aging for well over a decade, this wine has the tannin structure and intensity to reward careful cellaring for well beyond ten years.
