Winery Tasting Notes

Colour - The appearance is medium to deep red with lively cherry hues and solid core of deep garnet red. The rim of violet is a reminder of ripe Mataro berries.

Aroma - The nose is full of vibrant fresh plum, currant and cranberry with varietal spice and fragrant lavender overtones. Shiraz adds a hint of eucalypt and Mataro is sweet and rich with earthy spices delivering complexity and sophistication.

Palate - The palate is full and generous with raspberry and rhubarb adding to the fruit spectrum. The mid palate is solid and round with fleshy Shiraz tannins that add a savoury kick followed by earthy dried herbs. The intensity of flavour builds towards a dry, rounded finish with sweet oak and spice.

Food Matching - This is a wine for tender char grilled lamb chops marinated in olive oil and rosemary Combine with crispy green beans, golden baked potato and a rich garlic butter dressing.

Cellaring Potential - This is an outstanding example of this traditional blend and will reward careful cellaring for 5 or more years.
