Synonymous Shiraz 2016 (6 x 750mL) Barossa

Viticulture - Eight different vineyeards are represented here as a cross-section of Barossa sub regions and geologies with Stockwell, Ebenezer, Moppa (all northern Barossa), Tanunda and Springton (Eden Valley) being the major components.

Vinification - Fermentation takes place in a mix of open and static fermenters with 6-7 days of maceration before pressing into French and American hogsheads barrels (300L), where they mature separately for about 12 months, before bottling unfined and with the minimum SO2 added.

Expert Reviews

"Sourced from low-yielding vineyards throughout the zone including 17% from Eden Valley. New and seasoned French and American oak. Contemporary Barossa shiraz, expertly done. Bright, lifted berry and plum fruit in the bouquet, and a gentle, tarry earthiness to convey a sense of place. Softly textured, juicy and flavoursome, bouyant and fresh. Ticks every box" - 93 Points - Steven Creber (Halliday Wine Companion)

Huon Hooke 90/100 Deep, dense red/purple colour, with a slightly meaty reductive note on the nose, which clears with airing to reveal red fruit and spicy high-notes. The palate is straightforward and firm, intense and tight, with some firmness and grip, as well as length. Slighty rustic, but very good.

Winery Tasting Notes

"Synonymous" because the Barossa really is still identified with Shiraz. Here we present a barrel selection that best reflects our ideal engine room Barossa shiraz, which has both power and finesse.
