Thomson Estate Lookout Ridge Chardonnay 2017 (12 x 750mL) SA

Fruit

This Chardonnay was grown on mature vines with an average of 40 years This Chardonnay was grown on mature vines with an average of 40 years on limestone coast soils. The result is a wine with lively fruit intensity and good acid balance. The 2017 vintage was wetter than usual and picked in three distinctly different parcels of ripeness. Layered complexity of green apple/ citrus, peach and tropical diversity are in a refreshing and vibrant style.

Winemaking

The richness of the fruit in its natural state meant that minimal intervention was required in the winery. Separate parcels were left on skins for some time in order to develop the keen tannin structure, then fermented in stainless steel with some French oak influence.
