The 2014 Nautilus Chardonnay is pale straw in colour. The wine displays a complex range of aromas, including citrus blossoms, white peach and toasted almonds. The palate is well integrated, with a good depth of flavour and a refreshingly long finish. This wine has a tight mineral structure in its youth and will develop a creamy texture as it matures.Delicious with pumpkin & goats curd ravioli, sage, nut brown butter, crisp prosciutto and pinoli pine nuts.
Cape Crest ’14 is a blend of 87% sauvignon blanc, 10% semillon, and 3% sauvignon gris. Closed with leading technology ‘DIAM’ corks. A technical cork, these eliminate any possibility of cork taint and, when Cape Crest is well cellared, they provide consistent evolution for every bottle. Cape Crest ’14 will continue to develop in bottle for five years from harvest.
This is the16th vintage for Kumeu River Pinot Gris and the vines are now settling down well and producing delicious grapes consistently that allows them to make wine that is rich complex and delicious. The 2013 vintage was affected by a spring frost and subsequently the Pinot Gris from this vintage is particularly luscious.

This specially selected blend was produced from fruit from our own vineyard which was harvested at optimum ripeness and fermented between 12-15°C with yeast selected to maximise the natural fruit flavours. The wine was left sur lie to add complexity and enhance the richness of the wine.
The grapes for the wines that carry the Mt Difficulty Bannockburn Estate label are subject to two strict criteria: they are managed by Mt Difficulty's viticultural team and must be sourced from Bannockburn vineyards - the south side of the Kawarau River in the southern Cromwell basin. Each has a specific terroir, largely influenced by climate, and offers a variety of soil types from open gravels to heavier clays.

Goldwater Chardonnay shows the influence of the unique climate and complex soils. After harvesting, the fruit is gently pressed and the juice cold settled before transferring to a combintation of barrel and stainless steel for fermentation. Approximately 75% of the wine goes through malolactic in order to soften and enrich the palate. 60% of the wine is then aged in new French oak barriques for eleven months, with the remaining 40% going into stainless steel to retain fruit intensity.

The season was perfect allowing high quality fruit to be harvested early in the season giving brilliant perfumed fruit flavours. The style is off dry (4.8g/l residual sugar) with a soft ripe backbone and long lingering finish.
A great Pinot Gris that comes from low cropped vines in a cool climate. With Neudorf Maggie’s Block, the winemaker tie together the opulent Pinot Gris mouthfeel with a steely spine to hold the wine upright.

In 1985, Peter Vavasour identified the Awatere Valley as the new frontier for New Zealand winegrowing and planted the first grapes there in 1986. The climate here is noteworthy for its wide diurnal temperature swings. Rainfall ranges from 279-406 millimeters (11-16 inches) a year, arid by any measurement.Named after Peter’s daughter, Claudia’s Vineyard was planted in 2002 at a select site within our “Favourite” vineyard. The coarse alluvium soils here are comprised of stones and pebbles mixed with clay and loam, and are known for contributing minerality, fruit concentration and longevity to our Sauvignon Blanc.

The wines come from the 250 acres of sustainably-farmed vineyards planted on ancient riverbeds. While the passion and specialty at Te Kairanga has always been Pinot Noir, they also make small amounts of Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Riesling and Pinot Gris.

The grapes for the wines that carry the Mt Difficulty label have traditionally been sourced from vineyards situated on the South side of the Kawarau River at Bannockburn. The Growers Series is a recent addition to the Mt Difficulty portfolio, allowing us to showcase the terroir of different sub-regions. The Lowburn Chardonnay is a blend of two “Growers Series” vineyards, Packspur and Golden Hills. Both are situated in the Lowburn area to the north of Cromwell.
