Chateau Tour St Paul Bordeaux Superieur 2014 (6 x 750mL), FR.

1 REVIEW

Chateau Tour Saint Paul was founded by the Yung family in 1983. Its name pays tribute to a family tradition spanning several generations, whereby the eldest son is always named Paul or Pierre, alternating each time. Chateau Tour Saint Paul refers to the eldest of two brothers who own the property today. The winery also bears testimony to ancestral tradition, as the grapes are vinified in the original 300- year- old buildings featured on the label. The result is a wine bursting with ripe fruit aromas, lifted with spicy notes.

Château Palmer 2009 (2 x 750ml), Bordeaux, France

Lot No: 0071-2447065

The grapes arrived in the winery at slightly higher temperatures than usual. The crops had to be cooled to make sure that the fermentation temperatures were well controlled. The extraordinary richness of the musts demanded constant monitoring by batch in order to precision-manage the extractions. These efforts were both encouraged and rewarded by the very high quality of the daily tastings: we were stunned by the freshness, density and finesse of the batches. This is a terroir vintage, in which each plot fully expresses its singularity and contributes thereby to blendings of very great complexity. (235075-1)

Chateau de Lamarque `Cru Bourgeois` Bourdeaux Blend 1998 (2 x 750mL) France

Lot No: 0064-2447065

For wine lovers seeking well priced Bordeaux wine, that delivers style, character and quality for a fair price, it’s important to know the Cru Bourgeois classified wines. Being Left bank wines, most Cru Bourgeois are dominated by Cabernet Sauvignon . However, over the past few decades, many estates have added more Merlot to their blend, in an effort to soften the wines. They can offer value and very good drinking, if you know which wines to look for. At their best, there are Cru Bourgeois estates that compete with much more expensive Bordeaux chateaux. Compete with, might not be a strong enough term. At their best, the top Cru Bourgeois wines can be better than some of the more famous, and more expensive classed growths. (232250-18)

The largest estate in the Saint-Emilion appellation of Bordeaux, Chateau Figeac is also one of the best, one of only 18 vineyards to obtain a Premier Cru Grand Classes rating.Figeac has one significant difference to its peers - owning to unusually gravelly soils for the St Emillion district, Fiegac is planted to a much higher proportion of Cabernet Sauignon, 35% as opposed to the more typical 10-20%, and only 30% Merlot, where others reach as high as 80%. This makes the wines more akin to those from the Left bank of the Girdonde River, like Graves or the Medoc. (235075-2)

Chateau Pichon Longueville Baron Bordeaux Red Blend 2004 (2x 750ml), Bordeaux, France."An undeniable star of the vintage, Pichon-Baron's 2004 boasts an inky/ruby/purple color to the rim as well as a big, sweet nose of melted licorice, chocolate, black currant jam, truffles, and charcoal embers. Soft tannin, full body, and abundant opulence and flesh are atypical for the vintage character, but this wine is loaded.
