Expert Reviews

Australian Family Owned since 1858, Tyrrell's Wines is dedicated to bring you the best out of their premium vineyards.

Sourced from some of the Hunter Valley's most iconic Chardonnay vineyards. The grapes were both hand and machine picked before gentle pressing and fermentation.

The result is a wonderful food wine with a beautiful texture.

Winery Tasting Notes

Vintage Report

Good rains in early December broke what had been an un-seasonally dry winter period. The region was blessed by moderate January temperatures which ripened the fruit slowly. Fruit was sourced from a number of Tyrrell's better chardonnay blocks.

The nose is balanced by lemon fruits and light oak.

Full and with the texture associated with lees stirring. A medium bodied chardonnay which will benefit from short term cellaring. A combination of new and old French oak was used to finish fermentation and add character.

Food Matching

A versatile accompaniment to all seafood, chicken and pasta dishes.

English immigrant Edward Tyrrell established Tyrrell's Wines in 1858 in the lee of the Hunter Valley's Brokenback Range, New South Wales. This land has become recognised as home to some of the Hunter Valley regions finest vineyards, and the basis for development of one of Australia's most successful privately owned wine companies.

Today, Tyrrell's are a truly national wine company, premium vineyards extend from their legendary home in the Hunter Valley to other distinguished grape growing regions of Australia including McLaren Vale in South Australia and Heathcote in Victoria.

Fourth generation family member and Managing Director, Bruce Tyrrell heads this winemaking company that boasts well established, popular and highly recognisable wine brands that are exported to over 30 countries worldwide. His children, the fifth generation of the Tyrrell family, are involved in the family business, illustrating that this iconic Hunter Valley winery will continue to be Australian owned well into the future.
