The fruit for this wine is from the Homestead vineyard on Jacksons Road, central Marlborough Wairau River Plain.
Aroma
Vibrant youthful fruit aromas of plums, dark cherries and strawberries accompanied by a hint of spice govern the aromatics of this Pinot Noir.
Palate
The perception of sweet red fruits lead the palate into a gentle rounded wine that delivers the same youthful fruit characteristics as the nose with an overlaying but delicate toast and spice array.
Shelter Bay's vineyards are situated in Marlborough’s, Wairau Valley at the northern end of New Zealand’s South Island. Grown on ancient alluvial soils they are the antipodean home of cool climate varietals such as Sauvignon Blanc and Pinot Noir. Intensely aromatic, vibrantly fruited, & refreshingly crisp wines are Shelter Bay's hallmark.

There is an abundance of sour cherries, allspice and cinnamon on the nose. Perfumed and pretty, savoury and spicy. The palate is intense cherries with more spice and a touch of stem. Good texture and length, My only issue is a lack of acidity but that actually accentuates the warmth and velvety texture.
Perfect as the weather cools. Drink with roast duck with spicy pomegranate sauce.
