There's a lot of wine here. It's much more than just the mid-palate of Australia; it's the start and finish too. It's thick with blackberried flavour, carries highlights of raspberry, and laces toasty/creamy/clovey oak seductively throughout. It's the quintessentially mouthfilling red. Rating 94 - Drink by 2025, James Halliday, Australian Wine Companion (AUG/2015).
If you like a big red, I’d recommend that you go out and buy this wine. It’s an excellent example of the warm, rich, mouth filling style. It tastes of blackberry, dried herbs, cloves and toast; the mouthfeel adds a gentle creaminess. It gives folks what they want, and does so very well. Rating 93 - Drink by 2024, Campbell Mattinson, winefront.com.au (AUG/2015).
Winery Tasting Notes
An aromatic wine with hints of delicate floral notes and sweet red berry conserve.
On the palate is a delicious kaleidoscope of red currants, black cherries, macerated strawberries with caramelised beetroot and nasturtiums. The elegant tannin profile elongates the palate encouraging these flavours to linger.
