Expert Reviews

"Good hue, though relatively light; how the back label could describe the wine as full-bodied is beyond me; it is in fact light-bodied, but with elegance and harmony, its red berry fruits with a whisker of oak spice and fine tannins. It is an authentic wine, showing '11 to full advantage, and not bolstered by magic (legal) additives in the winery." Rating 90 - Drink by 2016. James Halliday, Australian Wine Companion (DEC/2012)

Winery Profile

Brand Profile Image

After nearly three decades of growing grapes for some of Australia’s best known wine brands, the Zilzie winery was built in 1999 with the first vintage released under the Zilzie name in 2000.

The increasingly popular and distinctive Selection 23 range was introduced in 2004, while 2008 saw the re-release of our Bulloak range.

2009 has seen the culmination of many years dedication to selective vineyard sourcing deliver the “REGIONAL COLLECTION” of Zilzie wines. We’ve combed Australia’s best known wine regions, specifically targeting the varieties they excel at, for exceptional grape parcels to produce these wines.

We’ve come a long way in 10 years, with our winery tripling in capacity, and our range growing from the humble beginnings of four varieties, to now include consumer favourites such as Pinot Grigio, Moscato and Rosé.

It’s not all about size, Zilzie is also recognised for its exceptional quality, having won 27 trophies in its short history and is the only winery from our region rated 4.5 stars by James Halliday in his 2009 Wine Companion.
