- VIC - Yarra Valley
Yarra Valley cabernet in fine medium-bodied form.
You have to like eucalypt. If you do, this is a lovely wine. Harmonious. Blackcurrant and redcurrant, perhaps even into kirsch. It flows rather than struts. It’s finely picked with tannin. And while there’s a clear sweetness to the fruit it’s not overdone; it’s not into sweet corn territory. But there is a lot of eucalypt; the only proviso. Rating 90 - Drink by 2025, Campbell Mattinson, winefront.com.au (NOV/2015).
Winery Tasting Notes
Dark brick red.
Displays lifted redcurrants, cassis and liquorice.
Built around a backbone of firm, yet fine tannin, the lush dark red and black fruits interplay with warming autumnal spices, tapenade and cedary oak. The wine is long, generous and moreish. A classic Yarra Cabernet.
