Clear, sunny days and cool nights produced the perfect ripening conditions leading up to a successful 2014 harvest. Apart from a limited period of unseasonal rain, the region remained very dry right throughout the summer months and into early autumn. It was a sensational harvest for all of our Pinot Gris parcels in the Awatere Valley. All parcels were harvested early in prime condition and a touch riper than previous vintages, bursting with concentrated notes of ripe pear.

Lime and slight spice, honeydew and perfume. Light and a bit herbal on the palate with lemony acidity – certainly a fresher style – fine powdery texture. Crunchy finish with a lick of sweetness. Has a bit of energy and decent length. Rating 89 - Drink by 2018, Gary Walsh, winefront.com.au (OCT/2014).
The 2014 Yealands Estate Pinot Gris offers up aromas of fresh apples and pears with hints of melon, white pepper and fennel seed. There is just a touch of sweetness to the medium bodied palate that is followed by a nice freshness on the finish with good length. Rating 88 - Drink by 2016, Lisa Perrotti-Brown, erobertparker.com (DEC/2014).
