A Chardonnay showing fresh and lively characters. This Chardonnay is made by expressing true varietal characters, still a full mouth coating Chardy showing white peach and stonefruit characters with a subtle French oak background and some nice lees stirring characters. A really good example of a favourite Aussie great !

Expert Reviews

A ridiculously low price for such a well-made wine, with white and yellow peach balanced by a gentle touch of citrus acidity and even more gentle toasty French oak. Small batch winemaking and attention to detail have shone through in 2011.

Rating 90 Drink by 2014 - James Halliday, Australian Wine Companion (DEC/2011)

Winery Tasting Notes

Chardonnay is a magic grape variety that has lost its charm in recent times, there is still much in this variety to offer and this particular wine is a standout. The wine is fermented with some juice solids and less stirred for 6 months prior to bottling.

It has a rich palate with a subtle oak background but most importantly showing vibrant and fresh peach and melon characters.

Food Matching

Best accompanied with rich creamy pasta or veal scallopine.

Winery Profile

Yarran Wines is a family owned and operated winery. The vineyards, winery and cellar door are all located in Yenda, NSW. Yenda is part of the Riverina region, the area has a long tradition for winemaking dating back to 1913 and is well reknowned for producing world class high quality wines.

Fruit has been grown on the family vineyard for 30 years, an interest to create wine from a viticultural background was developed as one of the owners began a oenology degree. The family business has since grown from producing a single Shiraz in 1998 to many different varietal table wines, rich fortified blends and also a classic Riverina Botrytis style wine (Noble Rot).

The winemaking philosophy behind the wines has evolved over time with each vintage being finely tuned to deliver the highest quality wines to our customers. Creative winemaking coupled with a strong commitment to expressing regional style has been a rewarding mix. Each vintage our wines continue to be of a high standard and have gathered exciting accolades and reviews. We are always trying something a little less mainstream each year, attempting to challenge ourselves and delivering wines with an extra element and character to the market place.
