Beginning with the 1962 vintage, 'The Signature' wines of Yalumba have saluted the very best of the vintage. They also have acknowledged the skills and dedicated service of people who have enhanced the traditions and culture of Yalumba.

The Cabernet Sauvignon (56% - ex Barossa Valley 39%, Eden Valley 17%) Shiraz (44% - ex Barossa Valley 42%, Eden Valley 2%) blend is a distinctively Australian style, and The Signature has set the benchmark for this iconic style, drawing heavily on Yalumba's great Barossa resource of Cabernet Sauvignon and Shiraz vineyards. Deep and intense - a wine made for longevity, very much "The Signature" style.

Expert Reviews

"The Signature is on a dazzling trajectory, taking one of the Barossa's most revered labels to new heights. 2006 represents its most exacting expression to date, though sneak-previews of 2010 on the show circuit suggest that all before it will be eclipsed in a dramatic spectacle. 2008 is an altogether different expression, a more generous Signature, with glossy, plush black fruits on parade, though never losing sight of the vibrant confidence that defines the new face of this blend. Cabernet takes command, donating brilliant intensity of blackcurrant fruit and taut definition of tannin structure, framed in dark chocolate oak. Drink 2018-2023." 95 points - Tyson Stelzer, Wine Taste Weekly, 15 November 2012

"Deep garnet-purple colored, 2008 The Signature Cabernet Sauvignon Shiraz reveals evolving notes of warm mulberries; plum preserve, creme de cassis and black olives with hints of sandalwood, spice box and tobacco. Medium to full bodied and elegantly fruited in the mouth, it's very well structured with a medium to firm level of grainy tannins and good line of acid, finishing long and layered. It's just beginning to enter its drinking window and should cellar gracefully to 2021+."91 points - Lisa Perrotti-Brown, MW, eRobertParker.com #199 (USA), February 2012

"An ever-impressive wine, even more so in the impressive 2008 vintage. This has a wealth of ripe cassis and blackberry fruit, mixed amid cedary oak, chocolate and bracken. The palate is supple, ripe, rich and full of concentrated, sweet, ripe dark berry and red fruit flavour; tannins are long and strong, oak adds sweet spice and there's a long cellaring life ahead."94 points - Nick Stock, Good Wine Guide 2013, November 2012

Red 5 Star Winery -James Halliday, Australian Wine Companion Edition 2011

Family-owned and run by Robert Hill Smith, Yalumba has long had a commitment to quality and has shown great vision in its selection of vineyard sites, new varieties and brands. It has always been a serious player at the top end of full-bodied (and full-blooded) Australian reds, and was the pioneer in the use of screwcaps. While its estate vineyards are largely planted to mainstream varieties, it has taken marketing ownership of viognier. However, these days its own brands revolve around the Y Series and a number of stand-alone brands across the length and breadth of SA. Yalumba has been very successful in building its export base. Exports to all major markets.
