Winery Tasting Notes

The Yalumba Y Series Sauvignon Blanc 2010 is pale green in colour and gives the impression of freshness right from the very start.

The aromas are characterised by pineapple and lime sorbet, freshly cut grass and hints of wet stones.

The palate is light bodied and framed by crunchy green apple acidity – a hallmark of this variety. Fine, clean and persistent in the mouth.

Food Matching

A lovely match with mussels steamed in white wine and garlic.

Suitable for vegans and vegetarians.

Wine Background

This Sauvignon Blanc depicts the mercurial King George Whiting. Whenever a chance arises to take on the piscatorial pursuit, we go for it. If successful, we eat it with reverence and wash it down with the citrus and tropical flavours of this wine.

Red 5 Star Winery -James Halliday, Australian Wine Companion Edition 2011

Family-owned and run by Robert Hill Smith, Yalumba has long had a commitment to quality and has shown great vision in its selection of vineyard sites, new varieties and brands. It has always been a serious player at the top end of full-bodied (and full-blooded) Australian reds, and was the pioneer in the use of screwcaps. While its estate vineyards are largely planted to mainstream varieties, it has taken marketing ownership of viognier. However, these days its own brands revolve around the Y Series and a number of stand-alone brands across the length and breadth of SA. Yalumba has been very successful in building its export base. Exports to all major markets.
