Fruit for the Yalumba Y Series Riesling 2010 is sourced from our traditional grower base in the Barossa region. Over many years, these vines have delivered consistently excellent Riesling grapes from a variety of soil types across the district. Gentle processing of the grapes, and the use of only the clearest juice, followed by a cool and even fermentation, ensured the fresh flavours of the variety are preserved in the final wine.

Suitable for vegans and vegetarians.

Expert Reviews

"This is one heck of a good riesling for the money - it's hard to see any other white wine made at this level of quality delivered at this bargain price point. If you're not sure, take a punt - this has a wealth of fruit flavours, from white peach to citrus, delivered as a smooth, soft and crisp style."

Rating 91 - Nick Stock, Good Wine Guide 2012

"Very floral and citrusy, with lime and orange sherbet notes and hints of green apple and white pepper. It also shows good length for such an inexpensive drop. Drink now."

89 points - Best Buy - Joe Czerwinski, Wine Enthusiast (USA), April 2012

"Light, dry and well-mannered, an easy wine to sip as the modest apple and peach flavors tickle the taste buds, drink now."

88 points - Harvey Steiman, Wine Spectator (USA), 29 February 2012

"If you’re looking for a reliable bottle of wine and you’re well off the beaten track, look for Yalumba. It’s available from one end of the country to the other and the Yalumba name is the nearest thing you’ll get to a guarantee of quality in the wine business. The Y Series often features in this column and Riesling is always a high point, especially given its remarkably low price. The 2010 opens with delicate floral, lime and gentle spice fragrances that are very inviting. It tastes intense and combines delicious freshness with enough mid-palate richness to sustain it. Great value."

Ageing? Drink over four years.

A pale straw with green tinges.

The Yalumba Y Series Riesling 2010 is a light to medium bodied style of wine. Aromas of fresh apple blossom and grapefruit are complemented by subtle hints of cinnamon, paw paw and lavender.

The fine palate shows flavours of lemons, lime peel and grapefruit. The light body of the wine is enhanced by a juicy acidity and fruit-tingle-like persistence.

Red 5 Star Winery -James Halliday, Australian Wine Companion Edition 2011

Family-owned and run by Robert Hill Smith, Yalumba has long had a commitment to quality and has shown great vision in its selection of vineyard sites, new varieties and brands. It has always been a serious player at the top end of full-bodied (and full-blooded) Australian reds, and was the pioneer in the use of screwcaps. While its estate vineyards are largely planted to mainstream varieties, it has taken marketing ownership of viognier. However, these days its own brands revolve around the Y Series and a number of stand-alone brands across the length and breadth of SA. Yalumba has been very successful in building its export base. Exports to all major markets.
