"The Menzies" is classic Coonawarra, and is characterised by cassis and chocolate flavours across the nose and palate. Two years maturation in French Oak hogsheads has enhanced the soft and velvety tannin palate. This is a definitive premium Cabernet Sauvignon that will reward mid to long term cellaring.

"Yalumba has honed in on the detail of its Coonawarra vineyards, with every section of each vineyard treated differently according to soil type and depth. The result is the most precise wines ever produced by the estate. This is a Menzies that provides both crunch and concentration, structure and restraint, purity and profound persistence."
Rating 95 - Tyson Stelzer, Wine Taste Weekly, 25 November 2011
"Strong purple-crimson; a strikingly rich and opulent Coonawarra cabernet, with blackcurrant, cassis and plum in a full-throated oak, ripe tannins on the finish. Will absolutely outlive its cork in average Australian conditions."
Rating 94 - James Halliday, The Australian Wine Companion 2012
"Deep garnet colored with a hint of purple in the rim, the 2008 The Menzies Cabernet Sauvignon offers aromas of black currant cordial and blackberry preserves with underlying hints of Provence herbs, menthol, soy, black olives, tree bark, cloves and pencil lead. Medium to full bodied and packed with muscular fruit, the flesh is well supported by firm grainy tannins and lively acid, finishing long. Drink this one now to 2019+."

Winery Tasting Notes
The colour displays deep red with crimson shades with a red crimson hue.
The bouquet is powerful cool-climate Cabernet Sauvignon with notes of violet, briar, dark mocha couverture and a hint of dry leaf forest floor.
On the palate, The Menzies is rich and full bodied showing bright, ripe fruits of cassis and dark berries with savoury plums, with sea-spray notes evident which are typical of The Menzies vineyard. The mid palate is full of structure and finishes with lingering powdery tannins.
The 2008 Menzies Cabernet Sauvignon is a pleasure to drink now though it has been made for the long haul and will cellar excellently.
Enjoy it with full flavoured red meat dishes such as Duck and Wild Mushroom paparadelle.
