"Dark ruby-red colour. An elegantly proportioned and tightly bound wine with peppery fruit, and fresh herbal nuances for freshness and modern style. Peppery fruit is the feature on the palate, with good acid lift and vitality. The tannins are supple, but structure is a significant component, the textures and acidity carrying the wine. Drink this classical and traditional food-friendly style over the next 5 years. 13.5% alc." Raymond Chan, www.raymondchanwinereviews.co.nz, 10 July 2014
"Within Yalumba's big portfolio of wines, Galway Shiraz stands as a distinctive timepiece. For more than 70 years, Yalumba has made this high quality shiraz at a modest price, representing a core tenet of Australia's oldest and largest family-owned wine company. From the 2012 vintage, winemaker Kevin Glastonbury sourced all Barossa fruit to produce a rich, robust flavour-packed style, redolent of big, traditional Barossa reds with fresh plum and blackberry, intense colour and a whiff of mulberry and liquorice. There's a fair whack of sweet oak in the finish, so make sure you decanter this youthful wine for the fruit to shine and the aromas to sing in full voice." SA Life, 1 April 2014
