"Deep colour; fragrant and savoury red fruit and violet bouquet, showing some peppery complexity; medium bodied and generously fruited, the mineral, savoury underpinning provides freshness and length on the finish."
Rating 94 - Ben Edwards, James Halliday's Australian Wine Companion 2012
"Yalumba’s credo of over delivering at every price point finds good expression here. It’s an attractive ‘berries and cream’ style, given extra interest by whispers of florals and pepper. Smooth and lush with a lightly toasty touch, and supported by a firm backbone of tannins. Steak and kidney pie would measure up perfectly."5 stars -Ralph Kyte-Powell, Cuisine Magazine, July 2011 Edition
"...The Shiraz Viognier is fine and complex; a well balanced, fullbodied wine that is long and well balanced on the palate. It has elegant fruit character (loganberry, cherry, white pepper, red licorice), with overtones of toast, clove, and nutmeg. Great value. Aged 10 months in a combination of new and older French, American, and Hungarian barrels and casks..."4 Stars - Ronn Wiegand, Restaurant Wine, June 2013
"Supple, lithe and expressive, distinctly spicy and refreshing around a core of cherry and savoury roasted herb flavors, persisting on the deftly balanced finish."91 points - Harvey Steiman, Wine Spectator Advanced Buying Guide (USA), 8 October 2012
"2009 Yalumba Shiraz Viognier, Eden Valley ($19): This wine isn’t as rustic as the prior wine, but is a classy and age-worthy red. The aroma is slightly peppery, but the refined red fruit and honed tannins are especially elegant. Serve cool."Exceptional - Dan Berger's Vintage Experiences, The Weekly Wine Commentary, 30 August 2012
