Dean's Discovery Drop!!

"Wow! What a find! The Waipara Wai range of wines are the result of Grant Burge's search for premium fruit from across the ditch. Showing all the polish and poise of Grant Burge winemaker, Craig Stansborough, these wines are great value at their full retail price. At our price they will blow you away! I'm confident that, like me, you will love Waipara Wai....worth every drop!" - Dean, Wine Tasting Panel

Truly classic Pinot Noir. Lifted cherry and plum aromas combine with chocolate and a hint of spice. The palate is rich with luscious red berry fruit flavours whilst retaining those characteristic silky tannins on the finish. There is plenty of savoury spice and a hint of dark chocolate from the French oak, leading to a fine and textured finish with great length and focus.

Winery Profile

Brand Profile Image

The Waipara Valley is sheltered by the Teviotdale hills that provide protection from cool easterly winds but are still open to warming North West winds. The valley has three general sites; valley floor, hill slopes or river terraces. The soil types include; gravely deposits on flats and terraces in the central and west of the valley, limestone derived clays on hillsides and valley floor to the eastern side and gravely loams over alluvial subsoil in the southern part of the region. The rich terroir combined with the long hot autumn period helps produce unique rich varietal styles of Pinot Noir, Pinot Gris and Sauvignon Blanc.
