Estate grown from the spectacular hillside vineyard in the Ferguson Valley of the Geographe wine region, fruit is sourced from the Henty and Cotterill blocks planted to the Mendoza or Gin Gin clone in 1998.

The Dragonfly Chardonnay is designed to capture the essence of this noble variety in its pure form. Vibrant and refreshing in style, it highlights the classic white-fleshed stonefruit and almond blossom characters of the variety, combined with the texture, complexity and depth of flavour achieved from the better vineyard sites of the southwest.

Half of the wine was naturally fermented in pre- loved French oak barriques to build complexity, whilst the balance was fermented in tank and saw no oak at all. Temperature in oak is allowed to peak at 22 degrees celsius, whilst tank fermentation is maintained at less than 15 degrees celsius.

2015 vintage is dedicated to Willow Bridge late Senior Winemaker, Simon Burnell.

Expert Reviews

50% wild-fermented in use French oak, 50% in tank an appraoch that has paid a handsome dividend; the palate has an excellent tactile quality that highlights the complexity of flavours ranging through struck match, white peach and burst of grape-fruit zest on the long finish. Rating 94, Top 100, James Halliday, Australian Wine Companion 2015

Winery Tasting Notes

Appealing classic citrus and white fleshed stonefruit with gentle lemon blossom and spice. Medium bodied, nectarine, lime and grapefruit supported by lightly toasted oak with a fine texture and balance.

A wine that looks delightfully fresh and tasty with youth whilst will develop some complexing character with up to three years in the bottle.

Winery Profile

Brand Profile Image

Willow Bridge Estate is family owned and operated by principals Jeff and Vicki Dewar, who bought the picturesque 180-hectare hillside property in 1996 after an exhaustive search of the state for the ideal vineyard site from which to realize their shared vision of producing world class wines which are both opulent and accessible. The estate is located in a hidden jewel of an area known as the Ferguson Valley which, at that time, was home to only a few small vineyards. Immediately planting 60 hectares of vines and then building a state of the art winery (the first winery in the area) in time for their first vintage in 2000, established Willow Bridge as the pioneering estate of the area and demonstrated the family’s confidence in the property and resolve to see their vision become reality.

From the release of their very first wines, their efforts were quickly rewarded with critical acclaim, wine show success and most importantly, glowing feedback from wine lovers.
