Awarded James Halliday's 2016 Best value Winery of the Year.
West Cape Howe was founded in 1997 and soon became one of the most popular wine brands in Western Australia. Over time it has acquired some of the oldest vineyard resources in the state, giving it un-equalled access to the best and most consistent quality fruit that the cool Great Southern wine region has to offer.
The West Cape Howe Premium wines are from the Estate vineyards, made with minimal winemaking intervention to ensure best possible varietal flavour and regional expression.

From the best vineyard patches (ex a very large portfolio), barrel-fermented/matured in French oak. A vibrant and expressive chardonnay with grapefruit and white peach neatly balanced by each other, and likewise with the oak; the finish is long and fresh. Rating 95 - Drink by 2025, James Halliday, Australian Wine Companion (MAR/2015).
It’s nutty and intense, but lengthy. It’s a very good offering. It’s loaded with toast and cream notes but the fruit swishes and sways and expands through the finish. Pineapple, citrus, pear and peach. Explodes in the glass. Rating 92 - Drink by 2019, Campbell Mattinson, winefront.com.au (MAY/2015).
Winery Tasting Notes
Attractive pale straw.
Quite subtle with a beautiful nuttiness. As a young wine it is showing fresh raw cashew nut characters with some delicate stone fruits; it will develop more toastiness with bottle age.
This is a modern Australian Chardonnay; it is well flavoured though still elegant with a beautiful creamy, ‘seamless’ palate. With light peach fruit flavours and hints of those cashew nuts, it is drinking beautifully already.
Wonderfully drinking now, or cellaring for up to five years.
