Overview

Parcels of Semillon and Sauvignon Blanc were selected from various vineyards across the Great Southern and Margaret River. Each parcel was fermented separately in 100% stainless steel. After fermentation, a blend was decided to best represent the successful partnership of the two varieties. The final blend was bottled early to maintain freshness and varietal character.

‘These wines established our reputation for quality and consistency - year in year out; wines with clean, expressive fruit and compelling value for money.”

Winery Profile

Brand Profile Image

Located in the Great Southern region of Western Australia, West Cape Howe is the most southerly point, rising some 250 metres above the Southern Ocean. It is thought that the first explorers to this coastline were Dutch seafarers in 1627 aboard their 'Fluyt' class vessel "Gulden Zeepaard" (Golden Seahorse).

The winery is named after this magnificent landmark to pay respect not only to the natural beauty of the region, but also in recognition of the extreme influence of the Southern Ocean on the area's viticulture. The rugged coastline is home to some stunning white beaches, sheltered coves and great rock climbing sites.

West Cape Howe Wines is owned by a partnership including Gavin Berry (until 2004, senior winemaker at Plantaganet), and viticulturist, Rob Quenby. It was founded in 1997 and soon became one of the fastest growing wine brands in Western Australia, now producing around 60,000 cases annually. Over time, it has acquired some of the oldest vineyard resources in the state, giving it unrivalled access to the best and most consistent quality fruit that the cool Great Southern wine region has to offer.

West Cape Howe's driving philosophy is to make delicious wines of harmony, balance, structure and flavour - wines that people love to drink.
