It's not just the grinding winds from the west or the imposing presence of Tapuae-O-Uenuku, the towering peak that looms over Marlborough's Awatere Valley. It's not just the deep, rocky soils formed millions of years ago by relentless glaciers that molded the landscape. It's not just the arid climate marked by sundrenched days and cold nights. It's the combination of all those things together that shape the inimitable character, flavours and textures of Vavasour wines.

Lime, vanilla, spice. Bigger scale wine with lime and pineapple, some chalky dryness, vanilla perfume and creaminess and a solid finish. Has scale, but also balance and drinkability. Rating 90 - Drink by 2018, Gary Walsh, winefront.com.au (OCT/2014).
Winery Tasting Notes
Complex and elegant, the 2013 Chardonnay delivers lovely citrus, nectarine and apricot notes balanced by toasty French oak.
The palate is rich and expressive with the stony minerality found in all of Vavasour's white wines.
